SHEPHERD NEAME - FAVERSHAM, KENT
The Faversham Brewery is home to Shepherd Neame, Britain’s Oldest Brewer. Nestled in the medieval market town of Faversham in Kent, brewing has continued on this site for centuries.
Using natural ingredients, such as mineral water from the town’s aquifer and local hops, our brewers produce Kentish ales bursting with character and renowned international lagers.
The UK Hop Collection is also situated in Faversham near the UK Fruit Collection and administered by hop breeder Peter Darby who is famous for introducing dwarf hops into the UK and resurrecting one of Ernest Salmon's early hops that had, according to the brewers of the time, too much of the American flavour. This collection includes over 70 historic English hop varieties from Mathon (1737) through to Sovereign, including Early Bird (1887) and other Golding varieties.
