TANGERINE DREAM®

MONHOPOLY NEW BREED

TANGERINE DREAM®

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: NZ
ALPHA 11 – 12%
TANGERINE / RUBY GRAPEFRUIT / STRAWBERRY / COCONUT / MELON / WHITE PEPPER / CREME CARAMEL
Tangerine Dream® is a trademark of Monhopoly Ltd, registered in New Zealand.

FLAVOUR:
Used as a flavour or aroma hop, a late addition or dry hop, Tangerine Dream® exhibits citrus with tangerine, ruby grapefruit & strawberry up front, with background coconut, herbal (fresh tobacco leaf) & honey dew melon flavours. We also noticed stone fruit and subtle white pepper spiciness when we made a harvest ale 2020 season.

Alpha acids are in the 11% - 12% range so Tangerine Dream® could potentially be used as a bittering hop although we haven't tried it.

Tangerine Dream® also works well as a single hop for SMaSH beers as well as part of a blend for NEIPA hazies.

HISTORY:
Formerly known as WTD 005™, Tangerine Dream® is a registered trademark and was developed by Monhopoly hop breeding from a cross between a Cascade female and an unknown male. It was granted protected status under the NZ Plant Variety Rights Act 1987 on December 5, 2022 after 3 year PVR trials at Plant & Food Research in Motueka.

GROWTH/YIELD:
Tangerine Dream® is by far the most prolific of all the varieties we grow, surpassing all others in size and growth and producing large cones in abundance from the first year of growth. A mass of golden lupulin and oils are contained in the cones making them quite sticky to touch. Early harvests produce a pronounced citrus/tangerine flavour while later harvests have a more complex flavour with stone fruit and white pepper added to the mix.

BEER STYLES:
• PALE ALE
• IPA
• NW PILSNER
• GOLDEN ALE
• BLONDE ALE
• SMaSH
• HAZY IPA
