Over 15 seasons, Colin Oldham’s hop gardens were the biggest producer of organic hops in the world. Ninety-nine per cent of New Hoplands produce goes to beer-makers in Europe and America; the remaining one per cent to New Zealand craft brewers. A day in the hop fields with Luke Nicholas as we visit Colin Oldham at Tapawera drinking the best of Epic Beers and watching the harvest get processed

• 5100g GLADFIELD AMERICAN ALE MALT 2.5 SRM (83.6%)
• 500g GLADFIELD MEDIUM CRYSTAL 56.3 SRM (8.2%)
• 250g GLADFIELD GLADIATOR MALT 5.1 SRM (4.1%)

HOPS:

• 20g CASCADE 5.5% AA @ 60 MINUTES
(or • 9g MAGNUM 12% AA @ 60 MINUTES)
FLAVOUR/AROMA:
• 20g CASCADE 5.5% AA @ 30 MINUTES
• 20g CASCADE 5.5% AA @ 10 MINUTES
STEEP/WHIRLPOOL:
• 58g CASCADE 5.5% AA FOR 20 MINUTES
• WAIT 10 MINUTES THEN
